The popular messaging service WhatsApp is preparing several new features that will improve the functionality of the service and will additionally allow users to use WhatsApp more efficiently.
According to reports, WhatsApp could soon make significant changes to the way self-deleting messages work. It is also planned to change the way members of group conversations are displayed to the user.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the service could allow users to keep messages even when they expire, that is, when they delete themselves. Messages that disappear, that is, delete themselves after a certain amount of time, cannot be starred, but could be allowed to be retained. Such messages could be accessed later in the „Kept Messages“ section. Group administrators would have control over the active status of this feature.
WhatsApp’s group feature is getting a new option, which will allow participants to leave a group chat without notifying other participants. When a participant leaves the conversation, only the administrator will be notified.
WABetaInfo reported that iOS users could get a feature that creates a „Past Participants“ section. This would allow all participants, not just admins, in the group to see who has stayed or been removed from the group over the past 60 days.
